Materials Buyer/Controller (Progress Plus specialist)

MSA Manufacturing Ltd is a bespoke producer of machine and kit cut composite core and reinforcement materials. We are a key supplier to a number of prestigious companies and are now looking for a Materials Buyer/Controller to join our team.

The successful candidate will have experience in procurement, inventory management, and ideally expertise in using Progress Plus


Key responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to procure quality materials in line with company requirements and budget constraints.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchases.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships for optimal service and quality.
  • Oversee inventory levels, liaise with other departments to minimise excess stock and obsolete materials.
  • Working with our stores and finance teams to conduct regular audits and reconciling any discrepancies.
  • Lead or assist in the implementation of Progress Plus, ensuring a smooth transition and providing guidance and training to team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and inventory levels using Progress Plus.
  • Generate regular reports on materials status, cost analysis, and supplier performance for managerial review.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments (production, logistics, finance) to ensure seamless materials flow and address potential issues proactively.
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve concerns and optimize processes.

Essential requirements

  • Experience in materials procurement with specific experience in progress plus (preferred)
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to manage inventory efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to respond comfortably to rapid changes in scheduling.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks.

Location:  Ferndown Industrial Estate, Wimborne.
Position:   Permanent, full time/part time
Salary:      Salary will be dependent on experience of candidate.
